HTML-based web piece using JavaScript, CSS animations, and embedded animated GIFs

In endless_binary_loops, Florian Kuhlmann explores the structural aesthetics of digital systems and their cultural codification. The work manifests as an HTML-based web installation in which JavaScript-driven movements, CSS animations, and looping GIF sequences generate a semantically charged surface.

Formally, the piece is symmetrically organized, yet conceptually charged with binary oppositions: on the left, the vocabulary of machinic order—structured lines, color codes, rhythmic repetitions; on the right, technoid imaginations—organically inspired forms and abstracted symbols. Both spheres are overlaid by the central figure of a contoured hand—a motif that historically references the iconography of creation and here simultaneously becomes legible as an interface gesture.

Particular weight is given to the visual juxtaposition of the Bitcoin symbol and the dove of peace—two potent and polarizing icons that bring together positions often regarded as irreconcilable. The artist values this constellation precisely because, at their core, both symbols are carried by an idea of peace and freedom. In this way, a speculative space opens up in which technological and humanistic narratives may be thought together.

endless_binary_loops is not merely a digital image composition but a media-theoretical reflection: on the infinite loops of algorithmic systems, on interfaces as contact zones between subject and machine—and on the question of how cultural meaning is generated, automated, and reproduced in the digital realm.

The work quotes and transforms both the language of net art and the aesthetics of early computer graphics, without succumbing to nostalgia. It is a commentary on the permanent availability of symbolic structures—and a critical gaze at the inertia with which systems stabilize themselves within their own loops of repetition.
